Our dogs

Meet the Golden Retrievers from GOLDY.

Four dogs live with us. Two females and two males, each with a name, a birth date, and a short description.

Golden Retriever moving through meadow grass

Our dogs

Two females and two males.

Luna, a female Golden Retriever, sitting among meadow flowers

Female

Luna

Mother of the planned spring litter. Calm with people, and she likes to stay in the shade near the house. Patient with puppies.

Mira, a female Golden Retriever, standing at the edge of a pine wood

Female

Mira

Curious and easy on a walk. She is first toward the water, and in the evening she returns to the same bed. She watches something new from a distance before she comes closer.

Hugo, a male Golden Retriever, standing in a flower meadow

Male

Hugo

Father of the planned spring litter. Steady in the house, and he walks beside a person without hurry. Calm with puppies.

Teo, a male Golden Retriever, walking through meadow grass

Male

Teo

The younger male. He likes a retrieve and company. He meets new situations slowly, and after a walk he looks for shade.

Understanding the breed

What the breed asks for.

Temperament

A Golden Retriever is affectionate and oriented toward people, but dogs differ. One will enter a room at once. Another needs time. Both are normal, and we do not promise either in advance.

Exercise

The breed likes a proper walk, play, and a task. A garden is not a substitute for company. How much exercise is needed depends on age, health, and that particular dog.

Coat care

The coat sheds, sometimes heavily. Brushing, ears, and mats are regular care. If you want a dog with very little grooming, say so at the start of the conversation.

Training and company

Calm, consistent training helps a dog live easily with people. New situations are introduced gradually. A crowd, noise, and too many strangers at once are not good socialisation.

The vet

Regular veterinary care, parasite prevention, and attention to weight, joints, and skin are part of keeping a Golden Retriever well.

Family

These dogs want to be where their people are. Sniffing, games, rest, and company matter as much as the kilometres. A dog that is always alone is not a calm dog.

Before you decide

Choosing a Golden Retriever.

Look at the day you actually have. Time for a walk. Willingness to groom. A home that can take muddy paws. And the cost of food, training, and the vet for the dog’s whole life.

Children and other animals are not an automatic good match. It depends on supervision, on the other animals, and on the dog. It cannot be said that every Golden Retriever is easy in every home.

If you are not sure, that is useful information. It is better to wait than to rush.
